Jenny Nimmo is really good at writing books. Though all of the Charlie Bone Series has been breath taking in it's own way, I have begun to notice that some of the suspense has begun to fade as the series goes on. The fade isn't as fast as Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians though, which makes it nearly unnoticeable. This book series brings back very good memories. My favorite of this series was the first, "Midnight for Charlie Bone" which was so good it sent chills up and down my spine as I read. These books are a work of art in their own way and have memorable characters. The grandma is evil, sort of like the grandma (Benita Lopez) from the Geoge Lopez Show, the grandpa is sort of like the grandpa from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", Gabriel silk is an amazing musical genius, Tancred is the cool weather monger sort of like the lady from X-Men, Manfred is like Malfoy from "Harry Potter", the cooks in the book remind me of the nice cooks from my own school, and Olivia is just fantastic. She is overly dramatic and is good at acting. She also can make illusions thanks to her gift. She is sort of like Hermione from "Harry Potter", but an actress. Way to go Jenny Nimmo!

Reason for Grade: So many parts of this book made me laugh and kept me hooked. I don't know why, but I imagined Manfred looking like Hugh Jackman from "The Fountain" when he is all mad at the funeral and wearing his snow hat thing. There are a few scenes where Charlie's mom is cheating on her husband (nothing sexual is explained). One of the characters uses his eyes to cause horrible pain to anyone he looks at. Tancred is a rebel who creates violent weather to hurt people. A gruesome death is explained in detail by a man who witnessed it. Otherwise, there wasn't any cussing or sex.
