The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold

This book was beautifully written. The characters were so realistic I could almost hear them breathing through the pages. The author makes a point of showing you what evil there is in the world, but somehow managed to end up with one of the most beautiful endings I've ever read. Don't judge this book solely by it's cover, because there's much more to this than meets the eye. Even though the beginning is extremely violent, the end will make you glad you read this book.

Reason For Grade: I absolutely adored this book. There were some pushy scenes of homosexuality, a graphic rape in the first chapter, and a lovemaking scene at the end between two of the main characters.

Wicked 2 Legacy and Spellbound By Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie

I admit, after I read the first book, I wasn't expecting much out of this. The action was more intense than the first, and also, there was a lot more romance. I liked this book because it was packed with lots of explosive action that was reminiscent of the X-Men movies for some reason. I like it how these two authors can work together in such a great harmony. This book not only entertains, but educates you in the religion of Wicca. It's always a plus to learn from an entertaining book such as this.

Reason For Grade: Some of the action was a little bit intense. There were some parts where organs were ripped out of bodies, heads chopped open, and a couple of brief sex scenes that were slightly graphic.

Interperating My Rating Scale...

I decided for some books it was kind of hard to decide, so I created a kind of rating scale. I'll explain what certain intervals of ten mean and give you a book example.

0-10% Horrible. An embarrassment to literature and horribly written with a weak story line. To me, this usually involves the harming of a whale that the author tries to make seem funny. Ex. "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.

10-20% Slightly better than horrible, but at least a bit bearable. Ex. "Bear Dance" by Will Hobbs.

20-30% Failed, but had some good morals. Ex. "Ghost of Girlfriend's Past (movie)".

30-40% An excellent idea, but the author totally messed up the idea (Take a guess at what my example is going to be, huh?) Ex. "Leviathan" by Scott Westerfeld.

40-50% This may be a literary work of art or a classic, but I didn't really find anything special in it. Ex. "Little Women" by Louissa May Alcott.

50-60% I was forced to read this but I kinda liked it. "James and the Giant Peach" by Rahl Dahl.

60-70% Things in this region are kind of like "okay, it could have been better, a lot better." Ex. "Push (movie)"

70-80% Acceptable. I would probably read any book or watch any movie rated from here to 100% again. Ex. "Twilight (movie)".

80-90% Captivating. These books and movies pulled my attention and kept it. Ex. "Isle of the Dead" by Emily Rodda.

90-100% Emotionally captivating. These books or movies usually were in my dreams or kept me so hooked. They went above and beyond what was required and went straight to the heart or soul in some way. These were either scary, sad, or taught me a lesson in an interesting way. Ex. "The Fountain (movie)", "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'dell, "Infected" by Scott Sigler, "A Ring of Endless Light" by Madeline L'Engle, "The Lovely Bones (movie)", "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold.

Fablehaven

This has to be one of the best fantasy novels I've ever read in my life. Brandon Mull creates a parallel world all his own... just drink the milk and you'll see it. This book had me addicted so I couldn't stop reading until exhaustion finally overtook me. An excellent read that will thrill readers both young and old. This book is reminiscent of the Spiderwick Chronicles.

Grade: 85%

Reason For Grade: This was an incredible book, but there were some parts that were slightly annoying. For example, they called a cow's utters "tits" which made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. There were some parts that confused me and there were some parts toward the end of the plot.

At home in Alaska, my birthday celebration with my friends. This is Patrick (aka Firestar. He's a "Warriors" fan.) He got me a ceramic cat for my birthday, or as Nick refers to it, a cat "talisman". Hahahaha! Can't say I've ever gotten that for my birthday before lol. Thanks Firestar.
